Microneedling and Nappage Mesotherapy can both deliver advanced results for your skin. It sounds cheesy but it's true!

Microneedling helps those people looking to reduce the appearance of acne scars and sunspots.

We take our Microneedling very seriously at The Skinologist! We have achieved some phenomenal results for our clients along the way. That's why it's all the rage at the moment in the beauty world.

Why should you have Microneedling?

There are many benefits to microneedling, but here are a few:

  • Reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne improvement
  • Rosacea reduction
  • Improves pores
  • Improved effectiveness of skin product application
  • Fight stretch marks almost anywhere on the body
  • Brighter and fresher glowing skin the day after treatment
  • Effective acne scar treatment
  • Reduction or removal of sun-damaged skin
  • Much less invasive with fewer side effects that lasers or strong face peels

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin. It can also be known as Collagen Induction Therapy or Dermaroller.

The treatment has many uses (as listed in the benefits) but is mainly used to reduce acne scars and stretch marks. It's also great for anti-ageing and sunspots.

We use a handheld device that makes make tiny pricks into the skin. We will only go 1mm on the face and 2mm on the body. This is enough depth for your body to respond. So no horrible bleeding face like you may have seen in photos!

How does microneedling work?

This picking action on the face creates a natural healing response from your own skin. Generating collagen and skin tissue. The damage to the skin is minuscule in comparison to the response from the body. So you get a fantastic treatment with all of the above upside!

There is also an added benefit that most people don't know about. Little channels are produced with this treatment. So it's also effective at improving product absorption and giving natural fast results that last.

I always get increased results by using a bespoke mesotherapy cocktail for comfort during the treatment and to increase dermal hydration. This treatment will be part of Fiona's 90 min skin by design facial.

Why can't I just use a home roller?

Microneedling is a professional treatment, completed by The Skinologist under clinic conditions. Using a new needle for each treatment in a professional-grade device. The Skinologist also has a certificate from Cheshire West and Cheshire Council to confirm the clinic complies will all the hygiene standards required. This is to minimise the chance of infection and other complications.

The other main reason is those home rollers could damage the skin if used too often or you press too hard on the skin. You need to understand how to use a roller to prevent damage. Studies have shown home rollers achieve bright skin at best.

If you are looking for something more, a dramatic. The long-term result then professional microneedling is the better option over a home roller.

Can anyone have Microneedling?

You may not be suitable for microneedling if you are/have:

  • Pregnant
  • Psoriasis or eczema
  • Radiation therapy recently
  • Open wounds in the treatment area

Who is suitable for microneedling?

If you have good health and certain skin concerns that haven't responded to home treatments. You may have tried over the counter peels and even home dermal rollers already.

This might also be the final step to try before considering cosmetic surgery. You may want anti-ageing results but haven't been able to find anything yet. Have a skin chat or book a consultation with us to find out your options.

Please note you will also require a course of treatments to see results.

Microneedling process

This will vary depending on your skin and the results you want to achieve. This treatment will usually be done in conjunction with other products and treatments too to maximise the impact.

We will use the skin pricking device on the focus area. Then use a product to give a skin boost and achieved the desired outcome. Usually, we will offer the option to purchase a UV block as you will need to protect your face from the sun.

Does it hurt?

In short no! There should be no pain just a little bit of mild prickling. As it's not too invasive there is no need for anaesthetic creams or pain relief of any kind.

While microneedling produces similar results to laser and deep chemical peels it is much less invasive with minimal or zero downtime!

I know it sounds invasive and you’ve probably seen lots of blood-covered faces! But there is new thinking on the subject. Which means I will never go deep enough to induce your face to bleed excessively.

You’ll never leave my clinic with a blood-covered face because this would cause excessive inflammation. If you have things like pigmentation, too much inflammation can actually make the condition worse rather than improve it!

After treatment and are there any side effects?

As we said earlier there should be no bleeding. Recovery time is minimal (if any downtime is needed). Unlike surgery or aggressive skin peels.

Your skin may feel sensitive immediately after treatment. you may also notice your skin is red and irritated for a day or two. This is perfectly natural. This is the bodies micro response to needle pricks.

You should be able to go about your life straight after a treatment. Though we would recommend not wearing makeup immediately after the treatment. So your skin can work on producing those lovely benefits.

Your skin will most definitely be more sensitive to the sun after microneedling. So we strongly recommend you wear sunblock and avoid direct sunlight as much as possible for a day or two.

You should start to see results within a few days. With a more complete result between one to two weeks after.

To maximise the effect a course is strongly recommended. Usually in conjunction with other treatments. Your Skinologist can put together the perfect personal solution for your skin.

Nappage Mesotherapy is a natural and safe non-surgical treatment. It's a great alternative to cosmetic procedures! People refer to this as the Celebrity Red Carpet Facial! Because it produces glowing skin almost immediately after treatment.

So it's perfect for that Christmas party, birthday, anniversary, New Year. You can have the treatment in the morning or afternoon and be radiant and glowing in the evening!

What are the benefits of NAPPAGE MESOTHERAPY?

There are a few specific benefits to this rejuvenating treatment:

  • Improved skin hydration and elasticity
  • Reduction of fine lines
  • Brighter more radiant complexion
  • Helps to reduce puffiness and dark bags under the eyes

It's a series of micro-injections that deliver microscopic quantities of products that helps nourish your skin:

  • traditional pharmaceuticals
  • vitamins
  • minerals
  • growth factors
  • biomimetic peptides
  • Amino acids

This cocktail of products is what provides instant hydration and radiance. You are delivering everything your skin needs transdermally. That last word is a fancy way of saying how the product is delivered into the skin. Which is a series of tiny pinpricks evenly spaced all over your face.

By systematically distributing these products directly into the skin by a needle the results are significantly better. In both skin results and how fast the results show. It outperforms dermal application - think skin creams. Also taking these products orally would not be an option as the digestive system would break most of them down!

Why should I have Mesotherapy?

Nappage Mesotherapy has been around for many years but has not always been widely used in the UK. It gives the skin a supercharged boost and is an incredible treatment for deep dermal hydration.

Great for a one-off facial or pre-makeup application for that big night out or event. A course of treatments will help to soften lines and wrinkles, brighten tired dull skin, tone and tighten sagging skin.

A skin resurfacing treatment is always done first and will be part of a 30 or 60-minute Skin by Design facial treatment.

What is the treatment process?

If you are a new client a skin consultation will be conducted.

We will always ensure you understand the process and then start.

You will relax on the bed, you can remain fully clothed. You can also request any changes to the room in terms of lighting, music, temperature and even which scented candle you would like.

We will then administer the treatment which will be a series of tiny pinpricks into the skin of your face. Which delivers a droplet of the skin cocktail.

This is uniformly delivered across your face to create almost a grid pattern of tiny droplets of skin on your face. This is exactly what your face should look like. Once completed the excess is wiped away.

With the treatment done you are free to go about your day.

Is it painful?

Not at all. It will feel a little bit prickly and that's it! The needle used will not puncture deep enough into the skin to cause pain. It is also very fine (or thin) so it will cause little or no damage to the skin. No anaesthetic cream is needed or pain killers.

There is no downtime, you are free to carry on with your day straight after a treatment.

Makeup can be applied afterwards. In a perfect world, we recommend mineral makeup.

After effects and aftercare?

There are not really any after-effects to Mesotherapy. Your skin will most likely feel a little tingly. This is perfectly normal, as there are lots of nutrients in the skin.

We would also advise staying out of direct sunlight if possible for an hour or two afterwards and applying a high SPF sun cream if you do you go out.

There is no regime or aftercare needed. You can just enjoy the results!

Are there any risks from using needles?

There is only one very minor risk for Microneedling and Mesotherapy and that is Infection. This is extremely rare in professional clinics.

At the Skinologists, we have had zero skin infections. We use a new and sterile needle for each client. We also don't go deep enough into the skin to cause anything your immune system couldn't handle. The delivery system is also designed to ensure that cross-contamination is not possible.

We don't want to scare clients. We just want to highlight when using needles on the skin there is always a risk. Even if it is only infinitesimal! In the worst-case scenario, antibiotics would be needed.

At the Skinologist we use every safety measure possible - Use the correct equipment, correctly, in full PPE, following best practices from professional training.

All this has been checked and signed off by the local council in terms of Health and Safety. Here you can find the Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council Skin Piercing Register. We are listed as Renew Skincare as the register is updated periodically.

Please do ensure that if you visit a clinic they have taken all needling precautions to protect your skin health. There should be no shortcuts taken!
