With there being no school, routines go out the window, and chaos can quickly ensue. So i’d love to share my five essential tips to help you stay sane and chilled during the summer holidays. That’s why I created this mum’s summer survival guide, let’s dive in!

1. Embrace a Flexible Schedule:

During the summer holidays, it’s important to acknowledge that routines may change. Instead of fighting against it, try embracing a flexible schedule. Set a loose framework for the day, allowing for a mix of structured activities, free play, and downtime. This approach will help you maintain some semblance of order while still allowing room for spontaneous adventures and relaxation. This has been very important one to learn for me as I am a person who loves not having a schedule, but my youngest son really needs this structure. Not having any at all really stresses him out and causes a lot of tension.

2. Prioritize Self-Care:

As a mum, it’s easy to put everyone else’s needs before your own. However, taking care of yourself is crucial for maintaining your sanity and well-being. Schedule regular “me-time” throughout the summer. It could be as simple as reading a book, taking a bubble bath, going for a walk, or catching up with friends. Remember, a happy and relaxed mum is better equipped to handle the demands of the summer holidays. If you get a play date planned you can also book one of my mum’s recharge packages, that will give 90mis to truly relax. That brings me onto the next tip.

3. Seek Support and Share the Load:

You don’t have to do it all alone! Reach out to other mums in your community or online. Arrange playdates, outings, and shared childcare responsibilities. By sharing the load, you’ll not only give yourself a well-deserved break but also provide your children with opportunities for socialising and new experiences. Remember, being a mum doesn’t mean you have to shoulder everything alone.

4. Embrace the Outdoors:

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy the great outdoors with the kids. Explore local parks, plan picnics, go for nature walks, or organize outdoor scavenger hunts. Spending time outside not only allows your children to burn off energy but also provides a change of scenery for you. Fresh air, sunshine, and natural surroundings have a rejuvenating effect on the mind and body. All these things are in expensive and can be enjoyed with friends too.

5. Simplify and Delegate:

Let go of the notion that you have to be a super mum during the summer holidays. Simplify your household routines and involve your children in age-appropriate chores. Encourage them to take responsibility for their belongings and contribute to the daily household tasks. Delegating these responsibilities not only lightens your workload but also teaches your kids valuable life skills.
