Getting back to a good routine

Well, what a crazy 6 months it’s been! Have you found it hard getting back into a good routine after such a long break with the children?

I’ve found it not too bad this year, usually, after the summer I can’t seem to get going, but after so long off I’ve been raring to go! I was determined to have a much better routine (or habits as I like to say) and have found it makes the day flow better. I am a total routine-a-phobe and after doing a lot of reading recently I’m finding that perhaps a good routine is not so bad!

Here are my 3 top tips for making your day flow better:

1. Plan your day the day before

I have a constant list on the go of things I need to do, at the end of each day I go through the list and plan out what I’m going to do the next day and when. So as soon as you wake up you can look at it and get clarity on what needs to be done and when you’re going to do it.

2. Plan your wardrobe the day before

This includes children too, I make sure both my uniform and my children’s are set out. I then ask them to get dressed as soon as they get up. I don’t know about you, but I find if I do it later it always ends up more of a struggle for some reason, and make us rush. It’s never too early to start teaching children about good routines.

3. Get up earlier for some time

This is something I discovered from reading the “miracle morning” in lock-down.  I try to get up 1 hr earlier than I used to each morning. This is not to rush around and do extra jobs, this time is just for me. You can choose what you’d like to do to start your day the best. I personally do mindfulness, read and write down idea’s and goals. This puts me in the most positive mindset to start my day the right way and keeps my mind focused.

Routine or good habits is all about planning and staying focused. I am a person who is easily taken off course believe me, but I’m getting better and finding it’s really making some positive changes.

Hope you gain something from this too.
